50 Happy As A PIG In Clover

Mr Pigglesworth prefers natural clothing, and he’s been bronzed to enjoy a permanent outdoor life where he can bask in his mini-meadow along with a tiny admirer.

Indeed, Croft veterinarians want all their patients, both great and small, to be as ‘happy as a pig in clover’.

Barbara Caswell is the lead designer of Seasons of London, where she applies an array of media to improve homes, incorporating sculpture, fabrics, woodwork, handpainting and live plant material. Nearly all of Caswell’s themes incorporate animals into daily living. Her rule is that they must be at least life sized: ‘Animals have been diminished enough!’ she says indignantly. ‘Garden statues may seem trivial, but they are a constant reminder that animals bring landscapes to life.’ Last summer’s Swan Barn Farm’s Country Craft Day unveiled her Haverfield Herd topiary sheep, and inspired Veterinarian Chris Gray to start his own similar menagerie.
