46 Lady BACON Powell

Lady Bacon-Powell (Pig in Camp Blanket!)

Our hog has been named after Lady Baden-Powell, the wife of Robert Baden-Powell the founder of Scouts and Guides. Lord Baden-Powell started the Scout Association in 1907 and he then asked his sister Agnes to help start up Girlguiding in 1910 with his wife Olave helping in 1918.

Camping has always been a key part of Girlguiding, especially sitting around a camp fire singing and toasting marshmallows! Tradition is that everyone has a camp blanket to sew on all of the badges that they earn, hence our Hog having its very own camp blanket with all the badges you can earn within Girlguiding displayed on it.
